4th Grade Teachers
Welcome to 4th Grade!

Thank you so much for visiting our page! We post our "Peek of the Week" newsletters so you know what is going on in our classrooms here at Willow River Elementary School. We also post videos of the fun we have along the way! Enjoy!

Our Learning Focus

WRITER’S WORKSHOP Students will begin to work on their Young Authors' Day writing. Fourth graders will write a book of poetry using alliteration, assonance, consonance and fun rhyme schemes!

READER’S WORKSHOP Students will read books around a common theme of what it means to be a family. They will learn about what makes their family unique and special and how families can learn from one another.

MATH Students will take the chapter six math test.

SPELLING Students will learn about homographs. Homographs are words that are spelled the same, but they mean different things. An example is bore (to drill a hole) and bore (to make not interesting).

INVESTIGATIVE UNITS OF INQUIRY Students will begin a basic chemistry unit on acids and bases.

Students observing a Glacier in the Classroom!
Glacier Observation

Students observed a glacier in the classroom throughout the day and noticed changes over time. They noticed the formation of "lakes" (which glaciologists call kettles) and sand pushed ahead of the glacier (called moraines).
